In all four years of the Doctor of Dentistry (DDS) program at the University of Alberta may volunteer at SHINE. The clinic runs on Saturdays and can accommodate one preceptor, one fourth-year student, and two students in each of third, second, and first year. We are currently implementing a self-scheduling application where students can sign up for shifts online and we expect that most shifts will be filled using this system.

In addition, each dental class has one or two people who help to schedule their classmates into volunteer shifts. Students can contact these people to set up volunteer shifts in addition to using the online system. The current scheduling representatives for the 2008-2009 school year are Daniel Lee (1st Year), Dustin Wilson (2nd Year), Vikas Khanna (3rd Year) and Brayden McCue (4th Year).
